Did you know that the percentage of people who actually have naturally perfect, straight teeth is very, very small? Fortunately, with the help of orthodontics, we can all have dazzling smiles.
And, the good news is that orthodontic treatment has never been easier or faster. Innovations in orthodontics are enabling more children and adults to have straight teeth than ever before. Let’s take a glimpse into some of these new technologies.
Invisalign and ClearCorrect
Unsightly metal braces used to be the only way to get teeth straightened. Because of this, many adults opted to keep their crooked teeth as opposed to getting orthodontic treatment. Times have changed!
Two new options for straightening teeth in a far less conspicuous manner are Invisalign and ClearCorrect. These advanced approaches involve wearing a series of clear trays that are custom made for your smile. Made from a virtually-invisible plastic, each aligner tray gently moves teeth. There are no metal brackets or wires to tighten. Approximately, every two weeks, a new set of aligners is used until the treatment is complete.
It’s recommended that the aligners are worn about 20 to 22 hours a day. But, because they are easily removed, eating, brushing, and flossing are done without them.
Lingual Braces
At Rauch Family Dental, we also offer lingual braces which are placed behind the teeth and are virtually invisible to others. This is a specialty of our on staff orthodontist Dr. Marco Pinto DMDwho has focused his practice in the application and advanced study of lingual braces. Lingual braces are available to nearly every patient as a more aesthetically-pleasing alternative to traditional braces.
Traditional Braces
Yes, we also offer traditional braces that are a highly effective way to solve many orthodontic problems. Treatment can typically be completed in 18 to 24 months. We offer clear, ceramic brackets as an alternative to metal brackets. These are commonly used by older teenagers and adults who have cosmetic concerns with metal brackets.
